On Demand

Jason requested that I get some pictures on the blog so that he could have something to show people at work so here goes nothin'

For father's day the boys and I made Jason some special portraits. They haven't found the perfect hanging spot as of yet but I still think they turned out really cute. Zach picked out the colors and each boy did his own painting. (Well, Kyle had a little bit of help) All the while that Zach was painting he kept saying "Dad is gonna LOVE this" under his breath. It was pretty cute.
In order to get the silhouettes I tried to hunt down pictures of the boys that would work. I found one of Kyle but I had to request Zach to model for me. I did get some decent profile shots but I couldn't help but love the ones that turned out a bit more like this...
Gotta love that kid.

Little Artists

Here's some more pics from our Christmas Vacation at Grandma Gundersen's

Zach had so much fun with his cousins while at Grandma's house. Even now that we've come back to Illinois I can ask him who his friends are and he will list off all of his cousins without even a pause. He especially loved painting with Sarah. We've tried painting at home in the past but I think watching Sarah meticulously painting her "girl kitties" inspired him.
You can tell they were both deep in thought.
The finished product:
*Actually, he ended up going back to it and painting until every last bit was coated in a thick green goo. The next day he was inspecting their various creations and found that Sara's had actually accidentally gotten some bits of green paint on them. He very carefully picked out the correct paints and touched up her kitties to cover the green so that she wouldn't be upset. I thought it was pretty thoughtful of him.

Finger Painted Butterfly

Zach really enjoys reading the Very Hungry Caterpillar so we decided to make our own beautiful butterfly the other day.

We started with some crazy finger painting!
And finished with a butterfly any kid could be proud of
Kyle was the judge and he gave it two thumbs up.

Father's day pictures

For father's day Zach created a portrait of his Daddy.
It consisted of several colors of large circles and a scribble beard.
The circles had to be really REALLY big! I loved how he kept going up on his tip toes.
He finished of the portrait with some squiggly eyes and swirly ears for good measure.

Note: I found this easel at a garage sale when we moved here. It's in really good condition and it has a clip on one side for paper and a chalkboard on the other side. There's even trays on each side to hold the art supplies. Get this... it was ONE DOLLAR!!! Wahoooo!
